The Reds are traditionally a busy side in the transfer window and have snatched some of the league’s best talent from the jaws of their rivals. However, Mmegi Sport has been informed that the famous Gaborone side will turn to prey when the transfer window period opens on Monday.

Moyagoleele could lose the services of the long-term first-choice goalkeeper, Goitseone Phoko to champions, Jwaneng Galaxy. Phoko is out of contract at GU and as the two parties are locked in renewal talks, Galaxy are said to have tabled a hard-to-resist offer. Mmegi Sport sources claim Phoko will be in the maroon and white of the diamond mining boys as Anthony Gouws faces the exit door.

'Galaxy to Phoko is a done deal. Karabo (Gaolebale) and Ryan Brown will understudy. The club feels they needed an experienced goalkeeper as they will be playing in the CAF Champions League next season,” the source said. Galaxy’s public relations officer, Tankiso Morake was, however, quick to squash the rumours as he said the club is yet to make a move for Phoko’s services.

“Those are just rumours we hear from media streams. Phoko is not our player and we have not opened talks with him. We are as surprised to hear that he is our player, just because he is a free agent does not mean he is coming to Galaxy.

He can go to any team of his choice,” Morake briefly said. Phoko’s purported departure from GU could leave a long tail as several key players are said to be heading to the exit door. Midfielder hardman, Lebogang Ditsele is also being linked to Galaxy. However, the mining town would need to buy him out of his contract, which makes the move more complicated. Central midfielder, Mothusi Cooper is said to be on the radar of South Africa’s Cape Town Spurs. Cooper ran out his one-year deal with GU and the two parties are yet to pen an extension.

Full-back, Alford Velaphi has been linked with a move to Tanzania while another defender, Kennedy Amutenya is also linked with a move to South Africa. The Reds are said to be on the lookout for fresh faces. GU has already lost fan favourite, Obonwe Maome to cross rivals, Township Rollers. The Blues have also beat The Reds to the signature of former Extension Gunners’ captain, Omphile Vissage. Popa have been the busier of the two as Rollers confirmed the signing of South African forward, Sphamandla Sangweni and former BDF XI marksman, Godfrey Tauyatswala.
