Bomaid adopts new transformation strategy

The health insurance firm revealed its new plans recently at an event held in Gaborone to mark its 53 years of operations. At a celebration graced by dignitaries and stakeholders, Bomaid officials said they are more than committed to championing holistic wellness while leveraging on technology and improved use of data to increase operational excellence. Bomaid CEO, Moraki Mokgosana said the company is committed to tackling the prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), which required the adoption of a new, more proactive approach to health care as the core of the new strategy. “The country faces enormous risks through underlying conditions such as NCDs, which account for 45% of deaths in Botswana but together we have the means to change this and to proactively empower the nation to lead to healthier and happier people,” Mokgosana said.
The CEO added that the new strategic path is underpinned by improving member wellness through a new state of the art “Abby health screening machine,” which is a technological device that has the ability to monitor health vitals. Speaking as the guest of honour, First Lady Neo Masisi said while government has availed health care to all Batswana, public health services are often times overly burdened, meaning that more stakeholders have to chip in to help relieve the pressure faced by the government. “While the government’s priority is to ensure that the health of Batswana is well attended to, an ideal nation requires that all stakeholders work proactively towards decreasing the prevalence of NCDs,” she said. Masisi further applauded Bomaid for its efforts in helping Botswana fight against COVID-19, a period in which Bomaid provided full cover and many other add-on services for its members.
She said the donation by Bomaid towards the National COVID-19 Relief Fund and provision of full cover for pandemic testing together with provision of vaccines to members, demonstrated commitment to improving health care in Botswana. Bomaid board chair, Fergus Ferguson, said the organisation is ready to embrace its two-year strategic plan which will transform and enhance the value delivered to members and Batswana at large.
