In their statement released today, BQA put a total of ten programmes from the above institutions on its blacklist. “BQA advises prospective students that the authority issued an intention to revoke the listed programmes from June 28 2023.

Therefore, prospective students are informed not to enroll in these learning programmes,” read the statement from BQA.

New Era finds itself leading the pack with a total of six programmes not BQA accredited. The six programmes that are not accredited from New Era are; Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Telecommunications, Diploma in Construction Engineering, Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Diploma in Telecommunications Engineering.

Meanwhile, BUAN was recently embroiled with issues of students’ strikes over accreditation of certain programmes and now the institution finds itself with two of their courses not accredited. BQA advises students not to register for ‘Master of Science in Soil and Water Engineering’ and ‘Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Mechanization’ at BUAN.

On the other hand, BIUST which is regarded as one of the most prestigious universities locally finds itself in the fracas with two of its programmes in the blacklist. The programmes are; Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Civil and Environmental Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Material & Metallurgical Engineering. Following that, BQA implores all prospective students to always enroll for accredited course.
