The tour, which started at Maitisong Theatre in Maruapula, is the multi-award-winning contemporary folk band’s first-ever Botswana tour as they celebrate their eighth anniversary in the recording business.

Band leader, Tomeletso Sereetsi explained that the event is also meant to take their patrons, usually referred to as The Natives, down memory lane with performances from hit songs from all their albums. “We are continuing the show after going to Serowe, Maun following our first gig at Maitisong. During that first weekend of August, we will do two tours in Palapye and Francistown. The tour is getting bigger and bigger. We are bringing more partners and artists on board,” Sereetsi said.

Sereetsi stated that to make the show appealing to The Natives and all music lovers, the show will continue to bring an A-list of musicians to share the stage with on the night. “In Serowe, we had Ras Logic who is from Serowe while in Maun we had Stika Sola opening for us which was an amazing concert.

We want them to celebrate with us and make the festivities bigger so that the people who buy the tickets to celebrate with us, enjoy a variety of sounds and talents. In Palapye, we would have Khoisan and another artist supporting us in Palaye while in Francistown we have Lizibo and Ndingo Johwa,” he said. Sereetsi pleaded with The Natives to buy tickets in large numbers to make the tour successful. Furthermore, he said they have Sereetsi & The Natives merchandise and CDs on sale throughout the tour.

Additionally, he said the Cresta Hotel Group has joined them as a partner in the tour. He said the Palapye event will also be held at Cresta Botsalo. “We will be doing this tour throughout the year and eventually take it outside the country. It’s going to be an annual tour and try to grow the concert, especially in places where we feel we have support. If you keep coming to these events, we will also be encouraged to come to your area every year,” he added.
