The event is slated for August 5 at the Sky View Lounge in Gaborone. In an interview with Arts & Culture, Tefo Foxx whose original names are Tefo Phokoje revealed that he hopes to sensitise the public by opening them to Afro-tech music.
“With Beyond Us we set to use this event to showcase the limitless potential of Afro-tech and its impact starting from here in Botswana and to the world,” exclaimed Tefo Foxx. He further stated that not only will the ‘Beyond Us’ event captivate the revellers by bringing Afro-tech music to them but will situate itself around local artists.
“The goal is to give our local acts the opportunity and platform to showcase their talents with a strong brand and marketing to push the sound so that it also grows out of the borders,” he said. Moreover, he indicated that they have already confirmed bookings with around eight deejays and one Motswana artist based in South Africa. “We already have eight deejays that we have confirmed for the event including myself, Benny T, Osaka Sun, KZAR and KELE who is based in South Africa,” he revealed.
Tefo Foxx, who is also a Motswana based in South Africa, added that he does not wish to host this event only once, as he wants to keep the momentum going for Afro-tech. “This would be the first edition of Beyond Us with a limited number but we plan to make them every two months so that it gives enough room for each and every Afro-tech DJ or artist to get the support they very much need in their career,” he added. Additionally, he promised the patrons the best experience from all aspects, such as safety and security as well as exuberant vibes that will get the revellers to dance the night away. He explained that everything is already in place and they are just waiting for the big day to arrive.
The event will be by invite and patrons who yearn to get the first-hand experience of Afro-tech are implored to request for an invite through their Instagram page @beyond us.
