According to a letter written by BOKA vice secretary, Francois Alberts yesterday, as of March 31, 2023, Goju Kai Federation had not remitted its annual membership fee for the year 2023-2024, as prescribed in the BOKA constitution. “(According to) Article 5 of the constitution, the federation is automatically suspended.

As per article five sub-article six, Goju Kai Federation had the opportunity to restore their membership status to ‘active’ by remitting their annual membership together with a penalty before June 30,” the letter reads. Alberts further said through the letter that, according to the records, Goju Kai had not settled their account when the letter was authored.

“You are hereby notified that as of July 1, 2023, your membership has been terminated along with all rights afforded to active members of BOKA,” the letter reads. Reacting to the decision, Goju Kai chief instructor, Christopher Ponatshego told Mmegi Sport that they are yet to respond to the letter. “I have paid and I cannot give them the receipt because to my knowledge they are not (the) BOKA executive committee. I cannot deal with them, that is why I was not active in BOKA matters this year,” Ponatshego said.
