The Zebras defender has been consistently doing well for both the national team and his side, Security Systems. However, the ‘Alarm Boys’ made it clear that the player will not be sold locally. “We have left everything on the hands of the agent of the player but right now we know that there are so many teams that are interesting him,” he said.
Letsogile stated that Kopelang is on the radar of Gaborone United, Jwaneng Galaxy and BDF XI. He highlighted that because they groomed Kopelang, he will not be sold locally because he does not come cheap. “The boy is not cheap at all and our wish is to sell him abroad because we know there is no money here in Botswana. So we need to see him play outside the country,” he revealed.
Asked if there has been offers outside the country for the young defender, the club’s chairman stated that Kopelang’s agent is currently outside the continent negotiating with teams. “Right now, the agent is in Ireland and on our last conversation with him he said interest is brewing for Kopelang from teams that have seen his clips from the national team.
And we do believe he will be called any time soon,” Letsogile said. He further highlighted that there has been interest from the neighbouring South Africa. The club’s coach, Kaelo Kaelo ‘Wire’ has been another man rumoured to be on the move to join the Botswana Under-17 but Letsogile has shot down the rumours. “We have not received any official letters to us from Botswana Football Association (BFA), so these are just rumours that we also see on social media,” he said. He, however, said if the BFA comes knocking on their door, they will not stand in the way of ‘Wire’ provided BFA does everything according to the book. “If there is any interest for our coach, they should write to us as per the norm and it would not be the first time Kaelo joins the national team and if an interest comes we will not refuse because he will be serving the nation,” he revealed.
