Gaone is Ukhonukamva gospel awards nominee

The talented artist told this publication that she has been nominated for the Best Promoter (Lady G Promotions) and Best Single (Ke a mo rata). She explained that Ukhonukamva awards originate from Cape Town, South Africa, and that their main purpose is to help Gospel artists to discover, develop and expose their talents.
'To tell you the truth, this nomination was just a miracle because I received an advert from a friend in SA last month and I was very lazy to register until he called me again on the last day of the deadline to remind me. That was when I pushed myself to register. Being nominated on its own is a great achievement as it has now opened international doors for me.
My career as well as my brand is on another level. I feel excited and honoured to be one of the nominees and I really thank God for this great opportunity,' she said. Gaone also said the awards will be hosted on December 9 in Cape Town. As an artist who has been in the industry for some time, she said she sees a lot of growth in her career though it has not been easy.
She said she struggled much in terms of finances to be where she is today. However, by God's grace, she managed to be nominated for Annual Gospel Awards here in Botswana in 2017 and her music is now enjoying airplay locally and internationally.
Speaking of the challenges she faces in her music profession, she pointed out that the problem that most of the Gospel artists face including herself is that government does not recognise them much like other genres.
She said other genres are invited to perform at corporate events but with Gospel artists, it is just a struggle. Gaone further advised other artists that hard work, commitment and perseverance pay. She said they should work very hard and stay focused to build their brands.
