The Reds, together with league champions, Jwaneng Galaxy, will return early to competitive football with the CAF inter-club competition assignments coming this weekend.

GU face ELGECO PLUS of Madagascar in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round at the National Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Moloi’s side concluded pre-season preparations on Saturday at the VTM Pre-Season tournament held at the VTM Arena.

GU beat visiting Linare FC of Lesotho 2-0 in the semi final before clinching the tournament with a hard fought 1-0 win over second tier league side, Mochudi Centre Chiefs in the final.

Moloi told Sport Monitor that his troops are ready to do battle over the weekend. “We are ready, we just need to fine tune a few things in the coming week and we will be ready for the Confederation Cup. We cannot be unhappy, we are very good, we are content with what we are doing in terms of our preparations. Our level of fitness is very good as well. We played two games today and we have been playing more friendly games and we are happy,” Moloi said.

GU have confirmed the additions of Poloko Nkalolang and Liberia’s 21-year-old midfielder, Sheikh Sesay to the squad.

Sesay, however, could miss the preliminary round of the competition due to unavailability of a work permit. The tickets for the game are selling for P50 for the Grand Stand and P20 for other stands. The tie will kick off at 4pm while ELGECO PLUS are to arrive late in to the week. Jwaneng Galaxy will be home to Vipers SC of Uganda on Sunday in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round tie to be played at the Lobatse Sports Complex. The tickets for the game are selling for P50 for the Grand Stand and P20 for the rest of the stands. Kick-off is 3pm.
