In a statement today, Tebogo's mother, Seratiwa said the athlete has been ushered with gifts in recognition of his exploits at the competition where he became the first African athlete to win a medal in the 100m race. 'Your thoughtful gesture has touched our hearts and added a special touch to this momentous occasion. Letsile's historic silver medal win in the men's 100m race is a testament to his dedication, hard work and the unwavering support of individuals like you,' she said. Seratiwa said as a result of the nation's response to Tebogo's achievement, the family has opened a gift register. 'We are overwhelmed with your gratitude to usher our star with gifts of appreciation, as many have declared interest to get in touch,' Seratiwa said. She indicated that those interested in contributing should get in touch and be recorded on the gift register. By emerging with a silver medal, Tebogo is assured of $35,000 (about P472,500) cash. He is tipped to win another medal in the 200m as he progressed to the semi finals after today's heats.
