Last season’s Premier League sides, Extension Gunners and Prisons XI, will start their campaign in the lower division, on the road. Gunners open their season with a tricky encounter against URI Black Forest in Mmankgodi while Prisons XI travel to Gabane for a date with Uniao Flamengo Santos. Mogoditshane Fighters, on the other hand, will start their campaign at home against giant killers, Tlokweng United.
However, the most interesting encounters have been reserved for November and a series of titanic clashes will start with the Gunners versus Notwane fixture on November 4. The match is scheduled to take place at the Lobatse Council Stadium. Gunners are currently facing a difficult pre-season period with a thin squad. They have been banned from signing new players while also finding it difficult to retain some because of their poor financial status. Whether they would be able to fix their problems before the start of the season remains to be seen.
Notwane on the other hand were among the contenders for promotion last season and remain stable. A week after their encounter with Gunners, Notwane will take on Mochudi Centre Chiefs at the National Stadium. Magosi have been busy in the transfer market and even snatched former Notwane goal poacher, Remmington Masuku. Chiefs will then take on Gunners the following weekend at the same venue.
On the same weekend, Prisons XI will host Notwane at the SSG ground before they take on Gunners in Lobatse. Meanwhile, both Gunners and Chiefs have been busy participating in pre-season friendly matches in the last few weeks. Last weekend they faced each other with Magosi prevailing with a solitary goal. Both teams are part of a pre-season tournament scheduled for tomorrow at the River Plate ground. Chiefs will take on Notwane at 9am before Gunners face Tlokweng United. The final is scheduled for later in the afternoon.
