The event attracted a number of fitness fanatics from different parts of the country who wanted to pass the night by getting their body into shape. The Fitness Challenge is part of a series of events that also include Jazz and Champagne Picnic. The people who attended the event had the privilege of taking part in different body shaping and trimming activities such as Kazumba, aerobics, cardio and others. Amongst the fitness trainers who made the audience shed unwanted kilos away was Mandisa Kebapetse, a personal trainer who also does Zumba. In an interview with Showtime, Kebapetse, who also trains at Virgin Active, said she also does house calls.
She added that she had Zumba classes at Virgin Active. At the GIMC Fitness Challenge, she did Zumba class. She said lately she realised that Batswana are extremely active when it comes to taking care of themselves and partaking in different exercises or gym activities. She added that during the weekends, a number of people could be seen running along the main roads. She said both the private gyms and outdoor gyms were always fully packed. 'Batswana are responding very well to fitness calls especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. I realised that they are taking this fitness thing very serious. I urge the public to make fitness a lifestyle. It should not be about trimming their bodies for December because they want to look nice in certain clothes,' she said.
She advised the public to go to the gym or exercise saying it brings a lot of advantages like being active in life and lights up one’s mood. She added that a fit person with a fit body means one is happy. She was working alongside other popular gym instructors from both Botswana and South Africa in the likes of Kaone, Grace and Nana who instructed Yoga. Over the years, there has been an increasing in the number of Batswana running on the side of the roads or doing exercises at different local community parks where some fitness machinery has been installed.
