According to Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang, the No.2 District Officer Commanding, the accident happened at approximately 1:30am, with the vehicle travelling from Serowe towards Palapye.

“We suspect that the driver might have been fatigued, lost control of the car, and overturned. He was ejected from the car, thrown on the road, and sustained serious head injuries. He was rushed to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital where he was certified dead by doctors on arrival,” he said. Remarkably, the vehicle had three passengers, all males aged 27, 33, and 34, who escaped with minor injuries.

They received prompt medical attention and were discharged on the same night. “All the passengers were wearing seatbelts and weren't ejected from the car when it rolled. I am pleading with drivers and passengers alike to consider wearing seatbelts at all times to avoid unnecessary deaths in case of an accident, as road fatalities remain a concern in my policing area,” he said.
