A 46-year-old man from Mmaphashalala was apprehended while transporting the carcass, wrapped in black plastics, in a Honda Fit car last Thursday at Leshibitse. According to the Dibete Police Station commander, Superintendent Meshack Ranku, the accused was arrested while driving along a gravel road that passes through Veterinary Gate Six from Mookane, apparently trying to avoid going through the Dibete Barrier Gate.

'Interrogated by police, the suspect was unable to satisfactorily account for its origin. He later led the police to the crime scene at Sekwaba cattle post near Dovedale where the skin, head and other remains of the cow were found,' Ranku explained.

The station commander disclosed that subsequent investigations into the matter resulted in the arrest of three additional male suspects: a 37-year-old from Maaloso ward in Mmaphashalala, a 41-year-old from Mokgatsha cattle post near Dovedale and a 49-year-old from Basimane ward in Mmaphashalala last Wednesday. The quartet has been released on bail but has been warned to appear before the Mahalapye Magistrates Court today (Monday).
