The Unik Construction Company is presently engaged in the construction of a sewage system in Moshupa.
In an interview with Mmegi Online, the commander of Moshupa Police Station, Superintendent David Ramoseki, provided details of the incident.
“On September 10 we received a report that an employee of Unik Construction sustained injuries while trying to bore into the ground,” Ramoseki said.
Ramoseki explained that during the boring work, an unexpected blast occurred.
“As he was doing the boring work, there was a blast. As a result, the rocks hit the 23-year-old on his face and head. He was badly injured on his face and head,” Ramoseki said.
Ramoseki went on to reveal that due to the critical nature of head injuries, the 23-year-old was promptly transported to Mmaseetsele clinic. However, the extent of the injuries necessitated his referral to the Scottish Livingstone Hospital in Molepolole. The station commander emphasised that their ongoing investigation aims to determine whether the incident was a result of negligence or other factors. He urged construction companies to prioritise and consistently implement safety measures in their operations.
