Vee Mampeezy leads Ireland gig pack

A host of local and South African artists such as DJ Bunny, Bogadi Serumola, Ms Kells , Tina Dlangwana, Spax Dior, DJ Junefinest, DJ Thami and DJ Godfrey will join Vee Mampeezy in the show to give Batswana in the Diaspora a rare opportunity to reminisce about their home country.
In an interview with Arts & Culture this week, the director and event organiser Motlatsi Phuthego stated that the event itself came as a plan to alleviate the homesickness that Batswana in the Diaspora always have during the holidays.
“We noticed that there are too many Batswana here and we do not have many activities to pass the time. And that’s when we thought to have this event to bring our people together and unite them as we are far from home,” Phuthego revealed. Phuthego said this will mark the first of the many events that they intend to organise for Batswana in Ireland. “This is something that has never been celebrated here before. It’s the first and Batswana here are looking forward to the event as well as the Irish people,” he said.
He also said the idea is to promote brotherhood and sisterhood between Batswana living in Ireland as it is often not easy to socialise in a foreign country. With regards to preparations for the event, Phuthego echoed that he is impressed with how everything is sailing through at the moment. “We have a hard-working team and things have really been going smoothly though it is not easy but so far everything is in order and we are just waiting for the big day,” he said. Tickets for the event are selling for €35 Euros for standard ticket, VIP €70 and €40 at the gate.
