Gospel Music Awards to include international artists

Therefore, for this year’s edition, the GMA will include the category of the Best International Gospel Artist of the year for the first time. The category will only include international artists from the African Continent.
Phempheretlhe Pheto who is the Chairman of the GMA revealed that their wish is to see the awards prospering and reaching new pinnacle heights every year hence the inclusion of the best international gospel artists of the year.
“We want to see these awards grow by awarding great talents in the gospel genre and this year we have entries that are around seven to nine and we also have an international category. This goes to show how big our awards are growing,” Pheto exclaimed.
The first nominees for the Best Gospel International Artists are as follows; Godfrey Mahlangu (South Africa), ATI from Burkina Faso, Edwin Mosweu (South Africa), Kamayo (Cameroon), Marlon (Zimbabwe), Katlego Moshe (Lesotho), and Nikima (Burkina Faso).
Meanwhile, new kid in the gospel music fraternity, Tehila Royal Music group bagged most nominations. Tehila Royal Music group scooped a total of six nominations in their first year in the music industry.
The group bagged nominations ranging from; Best Gospel Group, Best Gospel Newcomer, Best Contemporary Gospel, Best Gospel Song Of The Year, Best Gospel Album Of The Year and Best Gospel Packaged Album of the year.
Tehila Royal Music group scooped most nominations through their album dubbed ‘Spirit of Praise’. The album has been doing relatively well ever since it was released.
The group was followed by Boago Fenju as her name appeared five times on the nominations list. Boago Fenju is not a newbie to these awards as her name stood out in the last edition. She continues to stamp her authority as a gospel artist.
Legendary artists in gospel will also be awarded. The award will be decided by the adjudicators as it does not does have nominees.
GMA awards are slated to take place on October 21 this year at Molapo Showcase Piazza.
Tickets for the awards ceremony will be sold at P100 standard and P300 VIP.
