Now after 21 years of existence, the mall management feels that they can use their anniversary to give back to the community that has been supporting the business since it was opened.
In an interview with Showtime, Kaone Moremong who is the pageantry organiser of Miss Game City, revealed that the idea to host the pageant is from the mall management as their wish is to have a brand ambassador for the mall. “Game City is celebrating its 21st anniversary and as such they decided they want a beauty pageant as one of the events.
We as the organisers, our goal is to find them the brand ambassador for their 21st anniversary,” she said. With their aim to be distinct from other pageants out there, Moremong stated that they were not so strict with requirements for the pageant. She said all they want is a Motswana with an ID aged 21 years to 40. “Our requirements for Miss Game City are actually quite versatile.
The theme is Motswana versatile woman,” Moremong said. She said because they are looking for versatility, their requirements are open to any women whether they are single, transgender, mothers or married. “Body shapes, body sizes and your statuses do not really matter; we are just looking for a suitable ambassador for Game City,” added Moremong. Moremong further highlighted that they are different from other pageants because they do not have registration fees as one had to rock up for auditions without coughing up anything. Meanwhile, Moremong who is not a stranger to pageants, said prizes for the Miss Game City have not yet been set.
“We are not in a position to announce the prizes yet. We are still finalising with Turnstar and Game City who are organisers of the event. And many stores in Game City want to chip in also hence the delay,” she said. The top 30 contestants of Miss Game City will be announced during the course of the week while the pageant will be held at the Game City Parkade on October 20.
