Earlier this year, Tebogo signed a two-year contract with Orange Botswana, set to end after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Speaking at a welcome ceremony organised by Orange Botswana, Tebogo stated his wish for the contract extension.
During the ceremony, Orange Botswana awarded Tebogo P150,000 for his performance at the World Championships, while his coach, Kebonyemodisa ‘Dose’ Mosimanyane, received P10,000. “I would like to thank Orange Botswana for putting me under your wings for me to reach greater heights. I wish we could extend the contract,” he remarked.
Orange Botswana's acting CEO, Maano Masisi, expressed pride in their partnership with Tebogo, highlighting his achievements as a brand ambassador. “You are serving as our esteemed brand ambassador. What a man, what a talent, what a star, a record breaker, a man of many firsts. You brought home two medals from the biggest competitions, setting a new record for the African continent,” Masisi said.
He noted that Tebogo made history by becoming the first athlete from Africa to ever win a 100m medal of any colour at the World Athletics Championships. “His consistent success, including gold and silver medals at both the 2021 and 2022 World Athletics Under-20 Championships, demonstrates his extraordinary talent and dedication,” he said. During the men’s 100m final in Budapest, Hungary, Tebogo set a national record with a time of 9.88s, and in the men’s 200m final. He established a new African record and national record with a time of 19.50s.
Before the World Athletics Championships, Tebogo competed in the men’s 400m, clocking 44.75s during the Lignano Sabbiadoro event in Italy. Masisi expressed high expectations for Tebogo's performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Furthermore, Masisi emphasised Orange Botswana's commitment to building lasting relationships with promising young Batswana who exemplify dedication, focus, and excellence in their pursuits. “Those who embody dedication, focus and excellence in their endeavours. Let us consider that at his youthful age, Tebogo has already shattered records, etching new milestones for the African continent and beyond,' Masisi said.
