Ramosala said the strategic approach aims to establish valuable partnerships with industry professionals and cultivate avenues for growth for talented choristers, particularly the youth.
The concert scheduled for October 21 at Maitisong Theatre will be held under the theme 'Choral Music – A vehicle for Mindset Change’. It is part of the group's continued commitment to support President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s Mindset Change campaign and use Choral music to spread the message and driving change. The event is a black-tie affair.
'This remarkable concert showcases the exceptional talents of Luthando Qave, an internationally acclaimed Opera artist who lived in Sweden and has performed in different opera houses across the world including the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. It is a vehicle for mindset change. Choral music holds a unique power to touch the hearts and minds of both performers and audiences alike,' he said.
He explained that their concert has the ability to evoke emotions, inspire reflection and foster a sense of unity and connection. He added that by focusing on choral music as a vehicle for mindset change, the Andante Chorus aims to highlight the transformative potential of music in shaping individual perspectives and fostering positive change within society.
He also said Choral music, with its harmonious melodies and collective nature, has the ability to uplift spirits, promote empathy, and encourage a broader understanding of diverse cultures and experiences. Furthermore, he pointed out that Andante Chorus recognises the importance of nurturing a growth mindset, particularly among the youth.
He also said by promoting the theme of mindset change, the concert aims to encourage personal and artistic development, instilling in the choristers a sense of self-belief, resilience, and the courage to embrace new ideas and challenges. He said this concert aligns with their strategic vision of forging meaningful relationships with industry professionals. 'By collaborating with renowned opera artist Luthando Qave, we aim to establish a valuable partnership that can contribute to the growth and development of our chorus. Additionally, organising this concert provides a significant growth opportunity for our choristers, particularly the youth.
The chance to perform alongside a world-renowned artist like Luthando Qave offers them a unique experience to learn from and be inspired by a seasoned professional. It allows them to expand their musical horizons, refine their skills, and gain exposure to a wider audience,' Ramosala emphasised. He explained that by choosing the theme, ’Choral Music – A Vehicle for Mindset Change’, they aim to highlight the profound impact that music can have on individuals and society as a whole. Moreover, he also said it allowed them to demonstrate the potential of choral music to foster empathy, promote unity, and bring about positive change. In addition to the diverse repertoire from Western, African, and local composers, Ramosala explained that the Andante Chorus would also perform music specifically selected to support the agenda of mindset change.
Through their powerful choral renditions, the choir aims to drive the message of personal growth, resilience, and transformation. Those carefully chosen pieces would resonate with the theme of the concert, serving as catalysts for encouraging positive shifts in mindset and fostering a culture of change within the audience. On other matters, Ramosala said the Andante Chorus believes that music had the ability to inspire, uplift, and challenge individuals to embrace new perspectives, making it an ideal medium to drive the mindset change agenda. Ultimately, he emphasised that organising the concert represents their commitment to artistic excellence, growth, and community engagement. At the event, he said one should expect a captivating showcase of music from various Western, African, and local composers. He explained that the Andante Chorus will take the stage, delivering enchanting choral performances that highlight their collective talent and harmonious expressions.
The event will also feature a diverse array of potential solo singers from within the choir, each displaying their unique singing techniques and abilities. He pointed out that the successful execution of that concert required substantial financial resources. Therefore, he said they were actively seeking partnerships from the business community.
'These partnerships are not only crucial for the realisation of this particular concert but also for the fulfillment of our broader strategy to transform Choral music and position it as a significant contributor to Botswana's economy. By collaborating with businesses, we aim to create sustainable relationships that will support the growth and development of the Andante Chorus while also showcasing the potential economic value of the choral music industry in Botswana,' Ramosala said. The VIP ticket, priced at P300, includes admission to the event as well as a delightful cocktail snack. For those opting for the Standard ticket priced at P200, a food stall will be arranged on-site, offering a selection of snacks for purchase.
