Pheko, who has been a non-executive director at BTCL since 2018, was appointed interim chair last Tuesday to replace Boakgomo-Ntakhwana.
Pheko was the founding CEO of the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA), having led its predecessor, the Botswana Telecommunications Authority (BTA) for six years before its dissolution in 2013.
The BTA’s evolution to BOCRA involved the transition to a broader integrated ICT regulatory mandate, under which players such as BTCL have been able to leverage emerging technologies and trends.
Also leaving the BTCL board this week was prominent businessman, Maclean Letshwiti, who had served as a non-executive director for the past seven years.
