Galaxy has been on a steady peak to glory in Botswana football having two league titles under its belt. Jwaneng Mine general manager, Koolatotse Koolatotse, while unveiling the mine's plans said they are committed to supporting Galaxy until the team has a permanent seat amongst Africa's elite.
“Our deep sense of community will stretch further to ensure that Jwaneng Galaxy become one of the top six clubs in Africa and we will not rest until this happens,” he said.
For the season 2023/2024, Galaxy will enter the pitch with a bounty sponsorship of P1.5 million from Debswana subsidiary, Naledi Mining Services. The partnership sets Galaxy apart amidst a low sponsor turnout for local football teams often decapitating plans to operate on a professional level. Koolatotse said Galaxy has been gaining traction in Botswana entrenching itself as a force to reckon with, which has prompted the mine to consider extending more incentives to the club to unlock its full potential.
“You look at the Orlando Pirates turnout and performance together with the progressive win streak the club has been enjoying since inception, you will see why we want to support this team until it is one of the best in Africa,” he said.
