Slight improvement in the PSLE results

The proportion of candidates obtaining credit grades (Grade C or better) has increased by 1.30% from 70.49% in 2022 to 71.79% this year.

The percentage of candidates obtaining Grade A in this examination has gone up by 1.86%, being an improvement from 18.41% in 2022 to 20.27% in 2023. The proportion of candidates obtaining Grade B or better has also improved by 1.63% from 36.33% in 2022 to 37.96% this year. A total of 171 candidates did not satisfy minimum requirements for the award of a grade, denoted by letter X. According to a statement from BEC A total of 52,235 candidates sat for the exams showing an increase in candidature of 6% from the 2022 candidature of 49,333. The BEC states that a total of 10587 students attained grade A, with 9238 managing Grade B. 17670 students attained grade C whilst grade D students are at 10398. Grade E 4138 whilst students who attained grade U and X are are 34 and 171 respectively.

The 2023 cohort had 26,265 girls and 25,970 boys and notably the female candidates outperformed their male counterparts in all subjects.
