She explained to Arts&Culture that her love for writing developed from a tender age at primary school where she wrote poems, short stories and compositions. However, it was in 2004 after listening to a sermon in church, that she started to work on her book and develop it in chapters.
Although she shelved the work, she later on revisited it in 2011 and felt that it was time she wrote something to be read by other people. “I introduced reading and writing to my students, and I edited their work. One student wrote a farewell poem for President Festus Mogae, his work earned him a lot and that encouraged me.
In 2018, I looked back at my unfinished work and my heart was sore. I purposed in my heart that I would publish my work. I then enrolled in a Biblical course for my personal development. Upon completing the course, I started writing and in 2022, I published my first book entitled, Pursuit of God’s Kind of Goodness,” she explained. After shelving her work for so long, she completed writing, published and released more books. One of them is an 84-page book titled, The Word Philtre published in 2022 by Souvenir. The book is a Christian literature.
She pointed out that it reminded her of the goodness of God saying it revealed His character adding that good is who God is, His nature also saying His goodness was incomparable. She explained that the book targeted both believers and non-believers. She said for believers it served as a reminder to them to realign their efforts and energy to God while for non-believers it propelled them to make wise decisions in life, by choosing God above all else and to earn to walk and work with Him.
Molaakgosi also stated that to some people, the book inspires them to self introspect, heal their souls saying instead of regretting doing good and vowing never to extend a helping hand again, one sees him/herself changing their mindset and making statements such as ‘I am doing this for the glory of God’. However, she pointed out writing has challenges it comes with such time to read and reflect, and also have a revelation of scriptures. She added that being a mother was challenging as she had a lot on her hands to do. Her other book, Pursuit of God’s Kind of Goodness talks about the fact that some people always do or strive to do good to others expecting a reward or some form of appreciation.
She explained that unfortunately, those people ended up being heartbroken because instead of appreciation they were shunned and belittled. However, she said there is God who never disappoints. She said whatever good they do, God sees it and at His own time He will surely reward them. She therefore pointed out that all their efforts in doing good must be God-oriented to avoid disappointments. “After publishing this book, I was motivated to continue and I released four more books namely, Stop Blaming, Breaking Bad Habits, Heart and Living a Life of Purpose. I would like my work to serve as an inspiration to other aspiring authors who will in turn publicise their work. Locally, I am liaising with public libraries and call upon people whom we share the dream to come out of their closets. I am a teacher by profession. I teach Moral Education. I am also a Sunday school teacher,” she said.
