Girly, Jacklass working on EP

In an interview with Showtime, Girly said there is a belief that she makes a great team with Jacklass also known as Maglera Koala. She said they decided to try a different style to challenge themselves. The duo has since released three songs from the five that will be part of the EP.

The songs are Tike, Pula and Dubula. The songs were produced by Pro Lanez. Girly, who embarked on her music journey aged 14, said she believes her fortunes have changed for the better since she started working with Leago Mogano as her manager. 'I have seen my career growing and expanding even though the music industry has ups and downs.

I have learnt to put my heart into it, just take every day as it comes and just be creative. I do not let people’s opinions side track or delay me from becoming great,” she said. She also said female musicians continue to be extorted by promoters who also refuse to pay them for performances. However, she said such a situation has not deterred her, as she continues to find alternative ways to get profitable bookings.

With three YAMAs awards under her belt already and working for the Botswana Television (Btv), she is of the view that the future is bright for her. She added that with the help of Magano, the aim is to grow her brand by collaborating with big brands to build culture brand endorsement deals.

This will include brand ambassador roles and product advertisement. She added that they were also looking to collaborate with big international artist from SA, Nigeria and America. She explained that they are currently in talks with Sony Music Africa with an idea of establishing strategic partnership to help promote her music outside the region. She advised aspiring artists not to give up on their passions no matter the challenges they face.

She, however, pointed out that she believes she has done a lot and earned a place especially in a male-dominated industry.
