Gininda is back in the High Court in Pretoria where a trial-within-a-trial in the case is underway. Five men are on trial for gunning down the Bafana Bafana captain at singer Kelly Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus on the east of Johannesburg in October 2014.
The defence is challenging the admissibility of the confession statements that some of the accused allegedly made.
Yesterday, Mngomezulu who represents accused 1 and 2 in the matter requested Gininda to go through a statement where Khumalo was implicated as the mastermind behind Meyiwa’s murder.
Mngomezulu has shifted his focus to the alleged assault of accused number 2, Bongani Ntanzi, prior to him making an alleged confession. Ntanzi alleges he was assaulted at various locations and forced to sign the confession statement.
Ntanzi allegedly made one of the confessions on the 19th of June 2020, and the second confession on the 24th of the same month.
Mngomezulu alleges that Gininda offered Ntanzi 3 million rand to cooperate and come clean on the 21st of June.
Gininda has rubbished these allegations, saying it was an unlawful act to which he would not subscribe.
