Confirming the incident, Assistant Superintendent Moatlhodi Onalenna of the Mahalapye Police Station disclosed that the individuals in question were apprehended two days back. 'These two men were arrested for stealing copper. They admitted to taking copper from a farm in Mahalapye where they proceeded to cut it,' Onalenna further revealed. Onalenna stated that copper theft has become an increasingly pressing concern in Mahalapye, with thieves brazenly targeting the infrastructures responsible for supplying electricity to homes in the area. 'These people cut copper that is used to convey electricity to homes, causing disruptions and posing serious safety risks,' Onalenna noted.

'These men have appeared before the court today and they are under police custody,' Onalenna confirmed. In light of these challenges, the Assistant Superintendent issued a call to the community, urging the people to actively participate in addressing the issue of copper theft. 'I ask Batswana to help with the situation of copper theft and report any suspicions that may arise,' he urged.
