BDF XI draw disappoints Moloi

He said his side lost two crucial points in the Botswana Premier League (BPL).

The result saw GU's rivals, Township Rollers extend their lead at the summit of the league table from two points to four. Moloi also said his troops should not be happy that they walked away with a point but rather see the outcome of Saturday match at the National Stadium as a huge loss.

“It is a game where in my opinion we lost two points than a point gained and, yeah, it happens sometimes. We should have won this game,” Moloi said. Moloi added that if Moyagolele wish to stay in the race, they should aim for collection of maximum points in every game regardless of their opponents.

“I play for points; I come here and play for points. I want to get three points all the time and I play to win that is why I said two points lost than a point gained,” he said. However, ‘Moloi indicated that the match is now done and dusted. He said they cannot alter the results and that what they can do is to regroup and plan for their next opponents.

Though Piro was disappointed by the results, the same thing could not be said about BDF XI head coach, Nelson Setshwane, as he was ecstatic about the point gained. “Before the start of the game, I said we had a plan and whoever says the plan did not work, I am saying that it worked. We prepared for this game. My players ran the whole 90 minutes and created the chances,” Setshwane said. He stated that the only thing he could point out as the downfall from the encounter was time on the ball. “One thing I am bemoaning was the possession, our boys were afraid to play,” he said.

The two sides both had their fair share at goal but were not clinical upfront. On the 11th minute, BDF target man, Thabo Metlhayotlhe forced Thabo Motswagole to make a double save and cleared the ball off the line. Motswagole was called to task again by Emmanuel Sekwena with a beautiful curler outside the box which the latter stumbled trying to catch it. In the second half, it was GU’s better half with Thatayaone Kgamanyane missing an easy tap in chance and hit the upright after Molaodi Tlhalefang set him brilliantly. Two minutes later, Mothusi Johnson nearly slotted it in the top corner from a free-kick but was denied by Kagiso Matlou. Matlou kept his side alive after putting a stop to Kgamanyane’s powerful header.
