The pair, a 33-year-old from Basimane ward and a 38-year-old from Maaloso ward in Mmaphashalala village are suspected of stealing and slaughtering a calf valued at P3,000. Dibete Police Station commander, Superintendent Meshack Ranku stated that the suspects were found in possession of meat, including the head and skin of the calf.
Ranku said investigations into the matter are ongoing and the duo is presently in custody for further inquiries. They are likely to appear before Mmaphashalala Customary Court today, facing a single count of stealing stock. “This is a worrisome trend because recently cattle carcass was found on the farm without any trace,” Ranku said, imploring farmers to be on the lookout and take care of their livestock.
