The DIS issued an official declaration clearing Bash Carriers of any wrongdoing, debunking long-standing allegations of corruption that had plagued the company and its directors.

From 2018, Bash Carriers faced relentless campaigns orchestrated by individuals who peddled untruths to the DIS, resulting in false investigations and unwarranted probes that ultimately led to the business's full liquidation in 2022.

The repercussions were severe, with Bash Carriers losing out on some lucrative contracts, including the P400 million job to complete the upgrade of the Masunga-Mosojane road to bituminous standards. However, justice has finally prevailed as the DIS, after a meticulous examination of the evidence, has exonerated Bash Carriers and its director, Otshegeditse Basiami.

In a formal letter addressed to the company directors, all ministries, government departments, councils and Land Boards, the DIS affirmed Basiami and Bash Carriers’ security clearance, signaling their innocence and reinstating their ability to conduct business without hindrance. In response, Basiame expressed gratitude for the resolution of the ordeal that has plagued the business for far too long leading to its liquidation and emphasised the importance of due process, and the need for accountability within investigative agencies to prevent similar injustices in the future.

“The clearance letter not only absolves Bash Carriers of any wrongdoing but also underscores our integrity and uprightness in the eyes of the law. It serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to ethical business practices despite facing unjust persecution,” he added. The clearance of the company marks a significant victory for justice and integrity in Botswana's business landscape. It serves as a reminder that false accusations can have devastating consequences and highlights the imperative of thorough and fair investigations, Basiami said. As Bash Carriers emerges from this dark chapter with its reputation restored, it is hoped that it will once again thrive in the business realm, undeterred by the shadows of the past. Bash Carriers (Pty) Ltd, established in Botswana in 2000 and in 2014 it opened a subsidiary in South Africa.

The company offers a comprehensive range of services including design and build, earthworks and road works, logistics, sewerage water and water pump stations, bridges and structures, and plant hire. Bash Carriers has garnered experience working with government departments, Non-Governmental Organisations, and parastatals in South Africa, Namibia, and Zambia.
