Unrelenting Galaxy close in on third title

The two teams have been neck-to-neck since the start of the second round while Gaborone United (GU) fell out of the race. Popa travelled to the Sowa Town Council Stadium on Wednesday and played to a 0-0 draw with the home side while Galaxy eased past Security Systems 2-0.
Galaxy have now opened a three-point lead over Rollers and they have an advantage of a game in hand. The diamond miners are on a high as they extended their unbeaten run to 16 games. They last tasted defeat in mid-October and look set to wrap up their third league title. It is an interesting turn ahead of the last 10 games of the campaign and it is now in Galaxy's hands to retain their title. The defending champions sit on 50 points with 33 points to play for to potentially reach a maximum of 83. Rollers on the other hand can only amass a maximum of 77 points from the remaining games while GU can only go as far as 68 points.
Six more wins for Galaxy will eliminate GU from the race while Rollers will be hoping for the champions to fumble as they look to reduce what would be Galaxy’s six-point advantage. Galaxy head coach, Morena Ramoreboli urged his troops to stay focused as the league race nears its climax. 'It is far from being over. We are under stress (and) we are under pressure every game. We have another match against Masitaoka and it is another difficult match but we will try our level best to ensure that we have a plan, a proper strategy for them and get the results we need,' Ramoreboli said on Wednesday afternoon.
The fans are spoilt for a 'Super Sunday' as the two title chasers have a date with tricky opponents. The Galaxy Stars face a rejuvenated Masitaoka side under the youthful Vincent Kgaswane at the National Stadium. Galaxy have, however, dominated the fixture winning all five while scoring 14 goals as compared to Masitaoka's four.
Majatlhaga are, however, unbeaten in their last three games, although they only secured a single win. Rollers on the other hand take on revenge-seeking, Matebele at the Dinaledi Football Academy Stadium. The only clash between the two teams ended under some controversy as dubious refereeing spoiled Matebele's brave fight on the day as Rollers bagged maximum points.
In other games, Nico United welcome BDF XI at the Sam Sono Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Holy Ghost and Systems clash at the Lobatse Sports Complex. Police XI host Orapa United at the VTM Arena while GU travel to the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium to face Eleven Angels. The other fixture on Sunday is a contest between a much-improved TAFIC side and Flamingoes. All the games will kick off at 4pm.
