Mamelodi was confirmed as the new interim CEO until the end of August, replacing Senzo Mbatha whose contract ended recently.
“I am happy to be here and thanks to the board for giving me this opportunity. I know what it takes to serve in this position,” Mamelodi said.
He previously served in the same position years ago before he was unceremoniously removed. He said despite what happened in the past, he does not foresee any problems with any individuals or any team in as far as working relations are concerned. The BFL board chairperson, Nicholas Zakhem, also expressed optimism that Mamelodi is the right candidate for the job and that he will deliver in the short space of time. “I have worked with him, we have had our differences but I can promise you that he will deliver. He will be here for five months until the AGM,” Zakhem said.
He said at some point in life, people differ but there is nothing personal. “For the good of the game, differences have to be set aside. Mamelodi is ready to serve the board and football and I can promise that he will be the best we have. We will make sure all 16 teams are treated equally.
By the end of his term, if he is nominated again it will be good for continuation but if he is not, he will have laid a foundation for the one coming in,” he said. He said the board will sit down and come up with a roadmap until the end of the season. Meanwhile, Zakhem also announced new members of the BFL board following the resignation of the previous board members.
On top of Jagdish Shah who is an independent board member, the new members are as follows: Agisanyang Dingalo (Morupule Wanderers), Thapelo Otimile (Holy Ghost), Victor Kobe (Mochudi Centre Chiefs), Busani Segweni (Nico United) and Alec Fela Monyake (BFA Representative).
