Galaxy had not lost a league match since October 2023 and their title ambitions have since hit a speed hump. It only took five minutes for Masitaoka to take the lead as Jacob Mloyi beat Goitseone Phoko with a powerful shot.

It was an onslaught attack from Galaxy after the goal until Gabriel van Neel hit side net for Masitaoka on the 18th minute.

Galaxy were awarded a penalty after Tlamelo Kolagano was brought down in the box on the 27th minute but the decision was recalled as the assistant referee signalled for an offside. Daniel Msendami squandered a glorious chance to level the matters when he ballooned his attempt from inside the box on the 35th minute.

Galaxy found the equaliser with two minutes to the break as he headed in a free kick. It was level at 1-1 at half time. Mloyi headed over the bar just four minutes in to the second half. Majatlhaga regained the lead with a thunderbolt on the 55th minute. They had the better of the attempts after the goal and on the 71st minute, Bakang Tsholang saw his header go straight into the goalkeeper’s hands. Mxolisi Mkhonto was just inches away to finding Galaxy’s equaliser with just five minutes to full time while Gilbert Baruti also shot wide moments later. Mkhonto forced a brilliant save from the keeper as Galaxy sought a leveller on the 87th minute. Masitaoka held on to claim a famous win on the day.

Galaxy’s title rivals, Township Rollers played to a 1-1 draw with Matebele FC at the National Stadium. Popa missed a chance to go level on points with Galaxy but reduced the gap to two points. Galaxy’s head coach, Morena Ramoreboli told SportMonitor that the defeat would have minimal impact in the locker room. “There is no pressure. We have been playing, doing well and we will bounce back. We have lost but we will always come back and do the job,” Ramoreboli said.
