Botlhasitse acknowledged that the Alarm Boys are better placed compared to other teams when it comes to resources and further stated that his side should be collecting results and be among the title contenders.
“Yes, we have resources and that is a contributing factor but we have been battling with consistency. We talked about it numerous times but there are lot factors that come into play,” he said. He added that the team has been battling with suspensions and injuries, which have hampered their progress in the 2023/ 2024 campaign.
“There are lot of factors that come into play, firstly you look at the suspensions that we have, we are forced to change the team. You play with what you have and then injuries will always come into play,” Botlhasitse said. The young gaffer further asked that he be spared from scrutiny as he is fairly young and new into the head coach position and promised to take Systems to a higher level next season provided that he is still with the team.
“Furthermore, you have got inexperienced coach, a young one for that matter. So, I can only learn from such things so hopefully next season if I am still here, I will be a better coach; so give me a chance,” he pleaded. The game started on murky waters without pace until the hosts (Systems) broke the deadlock on the 19th minute.
The goal came through Raymond Wetshooteng after the ball was knocked around numerous times. On the brink of halftime, TAFIC nearly levelled matters but the upright came to Systems’ rescue. Immediately from recess, Kgotlelo Kotelo missed an open net chance to put his team ahead by two goals. Probing for an eequlaiser, Montsi Dichaba hit a beautiful curler that propelled Maikano Tladinyane to pull off a remarkable save.
After being brought in, Kitso Mpuisang levelled the scores for TAFIC from a rebound. With only seven minutes remaining, Systems scored the winning goal through substitute, Christopher Lemme, who easily composed himself inside the box and put it past the goalkeeper.
