Major Moves brings another rib-cracking session

The event, dubbed the #NotSoDryComedyTour, which is organised in partnership with Savanna Cider Botswana, promises hilarious moments by the most sought-after international and local comedians.
In a recent interview, Major Moves Comedy Events Coordinator, Gaolathe Kediemetse, told Arts&Culture that the line-up for the show features talented comedians from Botswana and South Africa and is nothing short of impressive.
Kediemetse also said the event will also give upcoming comedians the opportunity to showcase their talent and share the stage with established acts.
Hosted by Onkgopotse ‘Mdala ka Tje’ Mugende from Tutume, the show will feature the comedian stylings of Mawee from Gabane, Smowkey Nyembe and Kingsbuda from South Africa, Augustus Phillimon from Francistown and visually impaired comedian, Thapelo Malani from Maitengwe. Local comedy sensation, Mawee, is well-known in the comedy circuit for his witty and relatable humour.
He has performed at various comedy festivals and competitions, both locally and internationally, proving himself to be a rising star in the industry.
Smowkey Nyembe, who hails from Soweto, is a Savanna Comic Choice award nominee known for his raw and snobbish style of comedy. With numerous television and festival appearances under his belt, Smowkey Nyembe is sure to bring the house down with his unique brand of humour.
He further explained that the theme of the event, #NotSoDryComedyTour, aims to showcase the best comedy talent from across the country and provide a platform for artists to express themselves.
“The goal of the event is to promote mental well-being through laughter and entertainment, while also creating opportunities for performers in the industry. What sets this event apart from others is the diverse line-up of comedians and the support from Savanna Cider Botswana, which will enhance the overall experience with top-notch production and stage setup,” said Kediemetse. Additionally, Kediemetse said the show promises fireworks to ensure patrons experience top-notch entertainment from different forms of comedy from different countries.
“It surely will be an evening filled with laughter and entertainment,” he added.
He stated that the audience will be treated to too much hilarity and great silliness from a variety of heavyweight comics. Attendees can expect a night filled with laughter, surprises, and possibly even a special musical performance. “We have had tremendous support for our past shows from both the public and the media alike. We promise a truly enjoyable, relaxing and funny event with this production. We have a fresh new line-up, fresh new headliners and people must come and experience the best and ultimate entertainment from beginning to the end,” said Kediemetse.
