Oasis Motel is back after 15-month renovation work

Taking journalists on a tour of the newly upgraded project on Thursday last week, officials explained that the motel now includes a revamped outdoor pool area, a conference room that can accommodate 350 people and smaller rooms for intimate gatherings.

General Manager of Oasis Motel, Lorraine Pinagare, said the revamped motel promises a rejuvenated experience that combines tradition and innovation. “We have carefully blended nostalgia with modern comfort, ensuring that our guests will have an unforgettable experience,” she said.

The motel first opened its doors in 1979, becoming a favoured stop for road trippers and vacationing families. Its retro charm coupled with friendly service made it a staple in the local hospitality. However, over decades, the wear and tear of time took its toll necessitating a comprehensive renovation to meet modern standards.

The renovations project then commenced in 2022 after the new management, ODE Group, took over and now the motel now has upgraded 75 rooms featuring modern furnishings amongst others. Adjacent to the motel lies Oasis Mall, a new shopping complex revered by Tlokweng residents and surrounding communities for its convenience.

The mall offers access to various retail needs, making it an ideal complement to the Oasis Motel experience. ODE Group CEO-Hospitality and business development, Justin Jose, said they spent P174 million renovating the motel and the shopping centre and the process took 15 months. He also revealed that during the production period the engaged construction company employed 300 people to work on the project.

“The future looks bright for the Oasis Motel as it reclaims its status and the management is already planning a series of events and promotions to attract visitors, including themed events , local artists showcases to mention but a few,” Jose said. The motel anticipates to employ around 55 people directly and casuals when needed. Oasis Motel is part of the ODE Group which owns Travel lodge Gaborone and Kasane, Kalahari Arms Hotel in Gantsi and room 50two.
