The deceased was the driver of a Honda Fit vehicle that collided with a Chevrolet vehicle belonging to the Kweneng District Council. Reached for comment, Thamaga Police Station assistant commander, Assistant Superintendent Busang Malope said the accident occurred around 9:40am at Kolobeng, a few kilometres from Kumakwane. Malope said the deceased was the sole occupant of a Honda Fit vehicle whilst the Chevrolet had two people on board, a 55-year-old man as the driver and a passenger who sustained a fractured right hand. “It looks like one of the drivers was attempting to overtake resulting in a head-on collision.
The deceased who was initially trapped inside the car had sustained serious head injuries and was certified dead on arrival at Thamaga {Primary} Hospital by doctors. The Chevrolet driver sustained minor injuries and was treated and released that same day,” he said. Malope raised a concern that accidents continue to claim lives between Kumakwane and Thamaga, stating that four people died on the same road last week. As a result, he implored motorists to be cautious when driving on the road alone.
