Justice Michael Leburu has postponed the murder trial of former Member of Parliament (MP) for Mochudi East, Isaac Davids to tomorrow.

This decision came after the defendant's lawyers requested more time to discuss the case with their clients. Bathusi Brown, representing the defendants, stated that they hadn't had sufficient time to talk to their clients about the case since the trial dates were set a year ago. 'We have not had the opportunity to speak with our clients about the case. Though the trial dates were set a year ago, we have not yet discussed the case with the accused. It would be equitable to request an adjournment of the case to tomorrow,' Brown said. Brown further emphasised the importance of being allowed time to properly consult with the accused. 'One of the accused individuals is Ndebele, and we are uncertain if they are comfortable with the court proceeding without the use of Ndebele. Therefore, we require time to prepare ourselves and by tomorrow we will be fully prepared,' he added.

Justice Leburu granted the request, acknowledging the need for the defence to adequately prepare for the trial.

'In pursuit of justice, it is important to ensure that all involved parties have adequate time and resources to thoroughly prepare their cases,' Justice Leburu said.

As a result, the proceedings will resume tomorrow to allow for further deliberation and discussion between the defendants and their legal representatives. The case involves Mokgalemi Maleya and Jabulani Dube, who are accused of brutally stabbing Davids to death on January 14, 2018, at a farm in Sorilatholo following a fight between him and two of his herdboys.
