Egypt, South Africa Dominate Squash Event

Led by the duo of Mohammed El Sahourbashy and Andrew Wageh, Egypt was unstoppable in the boys' section while South Africa was in a class of its own in the girls' competition. In Gaborone, the two Egyptian boys confirmed their reputation as the top players in world junior tennis. They led an Egyptian domination of the tournament as all the country's six boys finished in the top 10. Sahourbashy and Wageh are tipped to be in the top 10 in the professional category as early as next year.

Besides sweeping the honours in the boys singles, the Egyptians completed their top-notch performance with another gold in the boys' team event, beating  South Africa and Zimbabwe to second and third place.

After playing second fiddle to Egypt in the boys' section, South Africa redeemed their play by dominating the girls' section where they swept all the medals. Milnay Louw fought for gold with fellow South African Aluscha Botha who finished second, while compatriot Chaeyne Tucker finished third. It was the same story in the girls' team events where South Africa's A and B teams took first and second positions respectively trailed by Zimbabwe.

Nine countries-Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Malawi, Kenya, Egypt, Mauritius, and Botswana took part in the two-week event.
