The Jwaneng Galaxy striker has walked away with a third consecutive top goal scorer accolade after finishing the just-ended season with 16 goals. It is, however, his lowest return in the last three seasons. The haul moves Sesinyi to 93 Premier League goals, leaving him needing only seven to hit the 100-goal mark.

The Pilikwe United product managed a single goal in his debut Premier League season with Notwane. He enjoyed his best season with Orapa United in the 2015-2016 season with a return of 15 goals. In the following season, 'Gaucho' managed to score 14 goals for the Ostriches before he found the back of the net 24 times in his return to the local league in the 2021-2022 season.

Sesinyi had a two-season stint with Platinum Stars (now, Cape Umoya United) before retracing his steps to the local league. In the previous season, Gaucho was tied with Omaatla Kebatho as the league's top goal scorer with 23 goals each. 'It was not my target to reach this (16-goal) mark, obviously if you do not reach (your) mark and you become the top goal scorer again, you become a little bit happy. But if you're just a bit off the mark I wanted, the 20 goals mark, you become a little bit disappointed, but then again you take home the golden boot and what else can beat that,' Sesinyi told MmegiSport after his team's final league game.

The nimble-footed forward said his focus is on the record league goals in a single season set by Terrence Mandaza in the 2009-2010 season. The former Township Rollers' marksperson scored 31 goals during the campaign and over a decade later the record remains untroubled. 'For me, I have always said it is in the books, it is possible.

It is just that we are dealing with different dynamics, different times of play, and I do not know how the competition was during his (Mandza) time. Probably they did not play the Champions League like we are doing, so it takes a lot to try to concentrate in all these competitions in a single season.

To try to play the 90 minutes, to try to be always sharp, to avoid injuries but it is always in the books to break that mark,' said Sesinyi. The forward does not rule out a move abroad as he confirmed interest from outside the country but was unwilling to give details. He was close to a move to the Middle East in 2022, which fell through at the 11th hour.

Sesinyi is amongst four players to score a hat trick this season. The others are Stephen Sibanda of Orapa United, Rollers' Godfrey Tauyatswala, and Christopher Lemme of Masitaoka. Former Gilport Lions' Tendai Nyamadzawo's seven goals remains the highest tally in a single league match. A total of 523 goals were scored this season, making an average of just over two goals per match, and it is below the 611 from the previous campaign.
