Six arraigned for stock theft

Botswana Police Service's (BPS) public relations officer, Assistant Superintendent Selebatso Mooketsi has told The Monitor that their countrywide Kgomo-Khumo Operation has resulted in the recent arraignment of Tshenolo Mmakgotso of Makakatlela ward in Mochudi, Badisa Molapong of Bokaa, Ona Kelatlhegile of Tlhagale lands in the outskirts of Malotwana, and Zimbabwean nationals Mildred Hwata of Mutare, Julia Modzokere, and Meshack Zulu, residing in Block 8, before Mochudi Magistrate's Court, to each face with a single count of stealing stock.

Mooketsi said the accused persons are suspected of having stolen and slaughtered a cow valued at P5,000 at Tlhagale Lands on or about June 2. She stated that Mmakgotso, Molapong, and Kelatlhegile remained in prison while Hwata, Modzokere and Zulu were given conditional bail.

“Police have since seized two vehicles believed to have been used in the commissioning of the offence(s). The accused will be back in court for mention on June 11, 2024,” she said.
