DI Botswana's exercise targets young learners mostly at primary level, but also includes those in secondary and tertiary schools. The institution has embarked on a nationwide boot camp tour and in the previous weekend DI Botswana was at Regent International School in Metsimotlhabe. DI Botswana in conjunction with the Regent International School hosted a one-day boot camp on Saturday hosted at the Regent's Metsimotlhabe campus.

The learners in the one-day boot camp were trained on, building, coding and racing robots, drone coding and flying, Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered music creation and also a team building challenges that are to harness communication skills, problem solving and leadership skills. 'We give them different kinds of robot sets and they build them up. After they build them up, we give them some computers to try programming the robots using the language we call scratch, which is child user friendly,' DI Botswana's resident trainer, Sophia Diboko told Mmegi on Saturday. 'We also have a book called Tech For Learners, it just helps them with what robotics and coding is all about, so they use it here so that when they get home they can continue with what they learned,' she added Diboko said it is vital to introduce STEAM education at a young age as she said this educational approach has become part of the daily lives.

She stated that the use of Artificial intelligence (AI) in their training camps as she said training on the use of AI could help the learners create useful and helpful ideas that help in the future. 'In the now world we have AI, we have things like ChatGPT, Gamma AI and all that. We are seeing creating AI and all that, so we are trying to get these skills all these AI you can use in a better way, instead of maybe making a fake video of a president saying something at least make something about you and others in the future,' Diboko said. DI Botswana will next visit Tlhabologo Primary School in Gaborone. The institution has amongst others hosted the one-day boot camps in Phaphane Primary, Jwana Primary, Acacia Primary and Khuduga Primary Schools. The exercise is to spread throughout the country in both public and private schools.
