Currently, the course is attended by employees from all Debswana operations. Senyane said the launch of the course is a message from the leadership of Debswana that the company is committed to continuously empowering its employees for them to be ever-ready to tackle the ever-evolving complex security risks.
Giving an overview of the project, the Head of Security, Boikhutso Dube said: “The Security Department initiated the development of Certificate V in Security Risk Management as a strategic measure to serve as a pathway for officers currently lacking the necessary qualifications. Recognising the untapped potential within its workforce, the department aimed to address the barrier posed by minimum qualification requirements that often hinder capable employees from advancing to higher positions. This proactive step underscores the department’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering professional growth amongst its personnel. It was therefore pivotal that we embark on the journey of developing this qualification.”
