Sheriffs attach 19 BTC vehicles

This follows a legal battle between Born and Raised (BnR) and BTC over breach of sponsorship contract, wherein the High Court ordered that the telecommunications giant should pay the musical event outfit P1.1 million. Two sheriffs invaded the BTC premises at exactly 9am today armed with a writ of execution to attach the corporation's assets. “You are hereby directed to attach and take into execution the movable goods of the Botswana Telecommunications Corporations Limited (BTC) at Plot 50350, Khama Crescent, BTC Megaleng House, Gaborone of and of the same to be caused to be realised by public auction,” read the writ.
Following the presentation of the writ to members of BTC, the two sheriffs proceeded to attach the company's cars. The sheriffs attached 19 BTC-branded vehicles which were within the premises. Some of the cars attached by the sheriffs include the Toyota GD 6, Yaris and Corolla among others. There was drama as BTC lawyers came in to negotiate with the sheriffs. At some point, tow trucks had arrived ready to load the vehicles away. At the end, the BTC lawyers managed to convince the sheriffs to leave the matter at just attaching the cars but leaving them at the BTC premises.
