Da Rosa hails Malete

Through an interview with Botswana Football Association where he was providing an update on the national teams, Da Rosa stated that working with Malete has been an exhilarating journey. “I work very, very well with coach Alex. He is with us and he came as an observer for the match against Somalia in Mozambique where he got a lot of very useful information,” Da Rosa said. The Zebras gaffer added: “We are very close, me and him, and we now have a camp coming up at the beginning of July for the Mares,” he said. As the Mares continue to prepare for their second stint at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Da Rosa revealed plans for the team and pointed out that they will organise friendly matches with more competitive sides.
“We have a camp at the beginning of July for the Mares with two friendly matches. A camp away to play two high level friendly matches because we will play in the next six months at WAFCON, so we have to be ready,” Da Rosa revealed. Da Rosa further highlighted that the intensity of the next camp is to ensure that when the Mares reach Morocco, they apply themselves and reach at least the quarter finals. “The team is progressing but we have to correct some things. It is very important because the target will be high, which is to play the quarter final of the next WAFCON at the least. I think the team is able to do that,” he said.
Meanwhile, Da Rosa elaborated that he is more than ready for the task to take the Zebras national team to the 2025 AFCON, which will be held in Morocco. “We have to be ready for the AFCON qualifiers as I know that the draw is yet to be done. But the AFCON in Morocco is our main target. We have to go there and it is very important for us,” pledged Da Rosa. The draw for the AFCON 2025 is scheduled for July 5 in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the Zebras will get to know their opponents.
