Barobetse has been in Poland for over two weeks to participate in the Miss Supranational International pageant grand finale and has thus far done pretty well. Giving an update on Barobetse’s progress at the pageantry, Miss Supranational Botswana spokesperson, Kaone Moremong, said the queen has made it to the semi-finals after being second runner-up for African contestants in the Supra Model of the Year category. She explained that the winner will secure herself a spot in the Top 24. Moremong added that the contestants also presented their ‘From the Ground Up’ projects to a panel of judges.
“Barobetse’s project is called “A Heart Can” and aims to create awareness and a safe environment for people with disabilities to showcase their talents regardless of their circumstances. The project has been rated one of the most impactful by major pageant influential platforms. On the last week of the competition there are Preliminary Evaluation rounds that our queen will compete in such as elegance gown - a showcase of her pageantry walk in an evening gown of her choice, confidence round, a swimwear round where the contestants were provided with swimwear from one of the organisation’s sponsors and a private interview where each contestant is given three minutes to impress a panel of judges in a private interview,” she said.
Moremong also said the evaluation also includes public voting on the Miss Supranational App. She added that each individual can download the app, cast one vote for the contestant they support, and show further support by purchasing votes online on the platform. She pointed out that the most voted-for contestant would automatically advance to the Top 12. Furthermore, Moremong expressed gratitude to companies and individuals who have supported Barobetse’s journey to the international competition. Barobetse’s wardrobe was provided by FEDE, Choosen Design, Versatile Creations, Fierce Designs, Designed by Precious, RockaBonke, Cue Apparel, Dioactive and Osha Kgangkenna. She said all her outfits were styled by the Miss Supranational Botswana wardrobe team.
She also pointed out that Barobetse was trained for her walks by O’Neal Pageantry and Modeling Academy and public speaking by Kgobero Kehuparetse. “The ladies are evaluated at every moment by different judges and world-renowned pageant influencers. Unlike other pageants, the competition challenges started way before she left for Poland with head-to-head challenges and introductory videos as well as online submission of challenges they were tasked with,” she explained. Moremong said the this is the second year Botswana competes at this prestigious pageant which is the third largest pageant in the world. “We are nonetheless grateful for the support from the public on social media who share, comment and encourage the team and Miss Leah Barobetse positively,” she said. Other appearances left are the national costume presentation and the finale which will be on July 6.
