Today, the Botswana Football Association (BFA) confirmed the schedule for the qualifiers to be held in South Africa. BFA held a press conference today where head of competitions and operations, Olebile Pilara gave details of GU's participation. He said the Reds will be part of next month's competition following their heroic win over Tawana Top Girls in the finals of the DTCB Championships. The 8-1 win saw Gaborone based side walk away with the DTCB championship title for the first time in their history. “We would like to share with this house that the CAF Women's Champions League COSAFA qualifiers will be hosted in South Africa.

The qualifiers are scheduled for August 16 until August 24,” Pilara said. He further added that as the competition gets closer more details will be shared. “We will share the complete fixtures regarding the CAF women’s championship qualifiers and of course, Gaborone United club by virtue of being the champions of the tournament will represent this country during the competition,” he said. GU ladies will take in the qualifiers for the first time after dethroning perennial champions, Double Action that had dominated the domestic scene for sometime. For the first time, Double Action will not be at the CAF qualifiers while their former coach, William ‘Raizor’ Monene will lead GU in the competition. Pilara said Jwaneng Galaxy, the domestic league and Orange FA Cup champions have confirmed their participation in the CAF Champions League while Orapa United will take part in the CAF confederations cup.
