The deceased were traveling south in a horse and trailer truck that collided with a fuel tanker heading in the opposite direction. The fuel tanker had one occupant, the driver who survived the crash and is hospitalized in a stable condition. Palapye acting station commander, assistant superintendent, Goletwa Kethamile said it took a while for the duo to be rescued as they were trapped inside the truck. 'Petrol was flowing all over the road and it took us a while to rescue them looking at (the need to observe) safety measures. We had to drill (and cut through) to rescue them and we feared chances of explosion. The duo were certified dead on arrival at Palapye hospital after we managed to rescue them,' Kethamile said. Kethamile said they are yet to establish the relationship between the deceased. He further stated that the sole the fuel tanker driver is still hospitalised but in a stable condition.
