Namibia’s Premier League champions, African Stars are also part of the programme, GU announced this week. “We are pleased to inform you that Gaborone United will be hosting the Namibian Premier League champions, African Stars and South Africa’s Supersport United for the Moyagoleele pre-season tour,” GU announced in a statement. African Stars arrived in Gaborone on Tuesday and trained at the Gaborone United Training Centre (BIAC) on Wednesday before games started on Thursday. The first matches took place yesterday where Masitaoka played Supersport at the Dinaledi Stadium while GU faced African Stars at the Gaborone United Training Centre. Today, BDF XI are up against Supersport before the South African side plays African Stars.

The Reds next take on Supersport on Saturday, a day when Masitaoka will test their strength against African Stars. Sunday sees BDF XI play against the Namibia champions to wrap up the weekend action. Supersport will bring their new signing, Vincent Pule who left Orlando Pirates recently. GU is expected to field its new Zimbabwean signing, Mannered Matsikidze who joined from Highlands Park in South Africa. The Reds recently off-loaded six players who were on the fringes of first-team action and are expected to rebuild in an effort to challenge Jwaneng Galaxy’s dominance. The Jwaneng side swept the two domestic trophies on offer last season.

Masitaoka on the other hand has seen several players depart, including goalkeeper, Victor James and Olebogeng Ramotse who had enjoyed a decent season with the side. Army side, BDF XI will leave for another training camp in Francistown after this weekend’s action.
