Lister’s solo exhibition to showcase 20 masterpieces

The exhibition, themed ‘African Beauty Through the Brush’ will be held on September 21 at the Botswana Craft in Gaborone. Lister told Arts&Culture that the solo exhibition, which is his second, will celebrate African nature and its beauty through his artworks. He explained that after the first exhibition at the Duke Café in Maun, the second plan is to go bigger and better and allow more Batswana to experience his work firsthand. The gifted artist promised art enthusiasts to anticipate seeing a little part of himself in some of the pieces. “I have poured everything and given all these pieces every detail worth sharing.
The main inspiration is to showcase my work to gain experience, public exposure and build relations with my fellow artists at large,” continued the gifted artist. He further said that they also hope to attract plus or minus 100 attendees in order to accommodate everyone. Lister said that they chose to have the renowned Hey Nyeenaah, born Theo Bome, serve as the director of ceremonies in an effort to draw in more art enthusiasts. Hey Nyeenaah’s cheerful vibes and captivating antics have made him one of the nation’s most sought-after MCs. He announced that there will be performances of poetry by Poloko Otlogetswe in addition to the exhibition of 20 masterworks that will recognise African diversity. The poetess specialises in background vocals for theatrical productions, particularly dramas. “Art, poetry and entertainment offer a deeper understanding of the world around us. The experience of engaging with people on different and profound levels.
The three also bring about the spirit of togetherness,” he added. Lister further stated that some of the proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to different organisations. “Currently, I am working on a project that is going to give back to the community I serve. Through some of the proceeds from the artistry business, I have donated school uniforms to some students,” he added. Additionally, he said some of the proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to schools for stationary and to underprivileged families. Lister indicated that the plan is to give young brains a better chance to learn comfortably and be able to fit in and not be hindered due to their lack. Lister is one of the talented creatives who over a decade produced commercialised artworks.
He started off with pencil drawing and has since moved to profitable abstract paintings. Over the past years, the gifted abstract artist has developed ways of producing art pieces, one of which is reproducing replicas of his art called printing on canvas of which it was highly received by most Batswana very well. By doing this, he has gained more followers on his social media platforms with over 43k followers on Facebook.
